2018 CIMB Classic Preview
Posted on October 08 2018
The PGA Tour begins the first of three events on their schedule in Asia at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia. Last year, Pat Perez won his third career title by four strokes over Keegan Bradley, and he’s back to defend his crown against some of the world’s best players. Headlining the field is Justin Thomas, the 4th ranked player in the world and two-time winner at this event. Other notables include another two-time winner at the CIMB Classic Ryan Moore, Ryder Cup star Paul Casey, and three-time PGA Tour winner Marc Leishman.
The CIMB Classic has been a co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and Asian Tour since 2013, and is hosted at the TPC Kuala Lumpur. Considered on the top golf courses in the world, the world’s best players have scored incredibly well at this venue, with the last three winners scoring at least 23-under par.
Players to Watch:
Brandt Snedeker: Despite a disappointing final round in last week’s Safeway Open which resulted in a playoff loss to Kevin Tway, Snedeker is continuing his solid play as of late. Look for Sneds to ride the hot streak into Malaysia this week.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat: He’s been a fixture in the world golf scene for many years, but this year will be the Thai sensation’s first season as a full member of the PGA Tour. He’s won a professional event in Malaysia before, and this is a great way for the long-swinging Aphibarnrat to get his season started.
