2018 RSM Classic Preview
Posted on November 11 2018
The 2018-2019 PGA Tour season continues this week at the RSM Classic in Sea Island, Georgia. Last year, Austin Cook won his first PGA Tour event by four strokes over J.J. Spaun. This year, he returns as the defending champ with the hopes of going back-to-back, but will have to beat an elite field of players in what is the last event of the calendar year. Notables in the field include past champions Kevin Kisner, Tommy Gainey, and Chris Kirk, along with Sea Island residents and former major championship winners Davis Love III and Zach Johnson.
Since 2015, the RSM Classic has been played on two courses within Sea Island Golf Club: the Seaside Course and the Plantation Course. With both courses at around 6,400 meters in length, players are treated to picturesque ocean views and a fun-yet-fair tournament layout.
Players to Watch:
Cameron Champ: Hard to look past what Cameron has done this season thus far. A win at the Sanderson Farms Championship and another strong showing at Mayakoba, the 23-year-old will look to have another solid finish before he heads to Kapalua for the winners-only event.
Bronson Burgoon: Currently 17th in the FedEx Cup Standings thanks to a T2 at the CIMB Classic, Bronson is coming off an impressive 2017-2018 season. This could be the week he breaks through for his first PGA Tour victory.
