2019 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship Presented by EGA Preview

The European Tour is back in action in 2019 this week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Abu Dhabi GC in the United Arab Emirates. Last year, Tommy Fleetwood successfully defended his 2017 title by two strokes over Ross Fischer, and he will be going for three in a row this year against a tough field, including the #2 and #3 ranked players in the world, respectively, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson. Previous Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship winners in the field include Pablo Larrazabal and two-time winner Martin Kaymer. Other notables include major champions Louis Oosthuizen and Henrik Stenson, as well as 24-time European Tour winner Lee Westwood.
Abu Dhabi Golf Club has hosted this event since its inception in 2006. At nearly 7000 metres, this golf course is one of the longest played on the European Tour. This is also one of the most lucrative tournaments on the European Tour; as part of the Rolex Series, the tournament boasts a $7 Million USD prize pool.
Players to Watch:
Henrik Stenson: He’s played in this event every year, and has had plenty of success without hoisting the trophy. Two runner-up finishes shows he is comfortable on this golf course, so look for him to be a factor come Saturday (play gets underway on Wednesday).
Tommy Fleetwood: Hard to bet against the man who has won this tournament over the last two years. He comes into this tournament ranked 12th in the world, and a third win here could vault him into the top 10.
