PGA Tour - 2018 John Deere Classic Preview
Posted on July 12 2018
The PGA Tour returns to TPC Deere Run for the 37th Annual John Deere Classic. Last year, Bryson DeChambeau broke through for his first PGA Tour victory by one stroke over Patrick Rodgers. This year, he’ll defend his title against an elite group of talent, including recent John Deere champions Ryan Moore and Steve Stricker. Other notables include recent winner at the Quicken Loans National Francesco Molinari and multiple-Tour winners Aaron Baddeley and Stuart Appleby.
TPC Deere Run has hosted this event since 2000. Over the years, it has yielded extremely low scores, including a 59 by Paul Goydos in the 2010 edition of the tournament. He became the fourth player in PGA Tour history to accomplish the feat.
Players to Watch:
Zach Johnson: There’s plenty of reasons for Zach Johnson to be a favorite this week: he’s won here before in 2012, has an incredible record with six top-3 finishes in nine starts, and is from the Quad Cities area. A strong showing this week should surprise no one.
Joaquin Niemann: The young Chilean superstar has had an incredible start to his professional career with four top 10s in his rookie season. Being that the John Deere Classic has been the catalyst for Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, this week could be Joaquin’s week to shine.
