PGA Tour - 2018 Travelers Championship Preview
Posted on June 24 2018
The PGA Tour returns to TPC River Highlands near Hartford, Connecticut for the Travelers Championship. Last year, Jordan Spieth defeated Daniel Berger in a sudden-death playoff for his 10th victory on Tour. This week, he's returning to defend his title against one of the better fields for an event after a major. Notables include former Travelers Champions Bubba Watson, Russell Knox, and Kevin Streelman, as well as newly crowned U.S. Open Champion Brooks Koepka, reigning Masters Champion Patrick Reed, and FedEx Cup points leader Justin Thomas.
The TPC River Highlands has hosted the event since 1991. Having began as the Greater Hartford Open, this year marks the 66th year of the tournament's existence.
Players to Watch:
Daniel Berger: Held a share of the 54-hole lead in last week's U.S. Open, and has had solid success in this event, including his runner-up last year. Don't be surprised to see his name near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.
Webb Simpson: The reigning PLAYERS Champion is having one of the best seasons of his career. After a tenth-place finish last week, the opportunity for another big finish is well within his reach.
